Teml´s new Organ Concerto

Jiří Teml, the leading Czech contemporary composer, has received a commission from the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK to compose the Concerto for Organ and Big Orchestra. It has not been an unknown challenge for him as he is well aware of the instrument and its sound and expression possibilities. He composed his first organ concerto in 1985. Already in that piece we can notice Teml´s creative work with a delicate relationship between the organ and orchestra. … This type of a one-movement organ concerto compound of several short contrastive parts was introduced by Teml in his first concerto, developed in the second and perfected in the premiered Concerto No. 3 “Te Deum laudamus” (19th and 20th December 2012) … The solo part of the piece was rendered by Irena Chřibková, an excellent interpreter of Czech contemporary organ music. Her thoughtful and careful registration resulting in a sound balance of the organ and orchestra and her virtuosity and rhythmical accuracy all together contributed to the success of the piece. The composition was carefully rehearsed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alessandro Crudele.
